Welcome to our membership registration page! You are about to embark on an incredible and challenging adventure as we work towards our goal of creating the next generation of commercial astronauts.
Before you join, let’s take a moment to bring you up to speed so you know the exact state of our organization. None of our members are astronauts yet, meaning none of us have traveled 100km or higher above the Earth’s surface. The only person in our organization who has done so is Soyeon Yi, a director on our board and former South Korean astronaut. Currently, any experiments and technologies we have are at an early stage of development and have been made possible through the efforts of our members as well as student teams at the University of Toronto.
Also, there is no guarantee that by joining our organization you will become an astronaut. The commercial space industry is fledgling and volatile. This means that there may be a day when many people will fly in space, but this could happen 5, 10, 20, or maybe 50 years from now, or maybe not at all.
All of us are part of the Association of Spaceflight Professionals, Inc. because we believe that creating more commercial astronauts will benefit humanity. This is an audacious, risky, and difficult goal. Our approach to reaching it involves designing experiments and technologies that require a human to fly to space one day and testing them in space-like environments such as Mars analog stations and aircraft that conduct parabolic flights.
After reading this, we hope you will join us and look forward to welcoming you into ASP! If you want to think it over a bit more though, feel free to do so. You’re welcome to come back anytime!
